Overview
How metrd records grid export periods within an export session.
An export session is a continuous window where your system is pushing power to the grid. Within a session, metrd records discrete periods when the export rate is relatively stable.
Why periods exist
Export rate varies as solar generation rises and falls and as house load changes. Grouping readings into periods makes it easier to aggregate energy per export window without pulling every raw reading.
Period boundaries
A new period is created when export power changes by more than 10% for longer than 60 seconds.
