SolaX Cloud

Connecting a SolaX inverter via SolaX Cloud.

This integration polls SolaX's own cloud API instead of talking to the inverter directly. It's the option to use if your inverter isn't reachable on your local network - a different VLAN, a firewalled IoT segment, or simply somewhere metrd can't reach it - at the cost of depending on an internet connection and SolaX's servers being up.

What it provides

  • Live solar generation, per string
  • Live battery charge/discharge rate and state of charge (hybrid models)
  • Live grid import/export
  • House load, derived from inverter output and grid feed-in

The same underlying data as the local integration, just sourced from SolaX Cloud rather than the inverter's own network interface.

Connecting

You'll need:

  • Your SolaX Cloud Token ID, from the SolaX Cloud(opens in new tab) web app under UserAPI. Generating one requires the account to already have at least one inverter registered.
  • Your inverter's Wi-Fi dongle serial number (labelled Registration No. or SN in the SolaX Cloud app, and also printed on the dongle itself).

Rate limits

SolaX Cloud's API enforces a request frequency limit. metrd backs off automatically when it's hit and resumes polling once the limit clears, so a burst of throttling won't cause errors - just a brief gap in live data.
