What's on the roadmap for metrd.

metrd is in alpha. Everything on this page is a direction of travel, not a commitment - none of it is built yet, and priorities can shift.

More integrations

SolaX and Solcast are the first two integrations, chosen to prove out the Live and Forecast capabilities. The integration model is built to support more of both.

Cloud access for existing hardware

  • SolaX Cloud - a cloud-based counterpart to the existing local SolaX integration, for inverters that aren't reachable on your local network (holiday homes, or a network that blocks local polling).

New hardware

  • GivEnergy - a widely used UK battery/inverter brand, both local and cloud.
  • Other inverter and battery brands - the adapter pattern behind the SolaX integration was built to generalise, so adding a new hardware brand is mostly a matter of writing a new adapter, not new architecture.

Energy tariffs

metrd already has a Tariff capability defined - pricing information tied to import or export - but nothing implements it yet. The obvious first candidate:

  • Octopus Energy - UK tariff data via their API, to show what your import/export is actually costing or earning you, not just how many watts moved.

Once a tariff integration exists, cost and value show up alongside the numbers you already see - what a period of charging cost, what a period of export earned - rather than requiring you to do that math yourself against a separate bill.

Ideas we're weighing

A few directions that would build on the current foundation but don't have a defined shape yet:

  • EV charger integration - treating a home EV charger as another device on the display, alongside solar, battery, and grid.
  • Alerts - a notification when a device goes offline, a battery gets stuck at a low state of charge, or a forecast changes sharply.
  • Historical trends view - a dedicated view over stored readings (day/week/month), separate from the live display, for spotting patterns rather than watching the current moment.
  • Multi-user accounts - sharing a display with someone else on the same account without sharing full account access.
