Retention
Keep history from growing forever by compressing older readings.
By default, metrd keeps every reading it records. Over months that adds up, so you can have older readings combined into longer intervals instead. Recent data stays detailed; older data is compressed.
Setting it up
Under Bucketing in the dashboard, choose Add tier. Each tier sets an age and a bucket size, both in minutes. For example:

| 30 days | 1 hour |
This keeps the last day in full, the last month in 5-minute steps, and anything older in hourly steps.
These settings apply to every integration. To change them for just one, use Bucketing on it under Integrations.
Totals stay accurate when readings are combined, so a day's energy use is the same before and after.
