Energy and cost totals
How much energy each device has used, made, or moved, and what your grid import and export cost.
Devices get totals for today, yesterday, this week, last week, this month, and last month, worked out from their power readings:
| Device | Totals, in kWh |
|---|---|
| Grid | Energy imported, energy exported, and net energy |
| Solar array | Energy generated |
| Battery | Energy charged, energy discharged, and net battery energy |
| House | Energy used |
| EV charger | Energy charged |
Net energy is imported minus exported, so it goes negative when you've sold more than you've bought. Net battery energy is charged minus discharged.
A grid device with a tariff also gets import cost, export earnings, standing charge, and net cost. The standing charge is added in full at the start of each day.
Days and weeks
Weeks start on Monday. Days follow the tariff's time zone where there is one, and otherwise the time zone under Settings > Region. With neither, they run midnight to midnight UTC.
Where they show
- A display's Energy Today section shows today's net cost and net energy. Add your grid device to it.
- Home Assistant gets every total as a sensor for each sent device.
- Under Readings, these devices can be graphed by their totals. Each line is a running total that starts again at midnight.
How often they're worked out
Under Settings > Energy totals, Work them out every sets how often the totals are refreshed, from once a minute to once a day. It starts at every 5 minutes.
