Users

Sign in, invite other people and see where everyone is signed in.

The dashboard needs you to sign in. The monitor at /monitor doesn't, so a wall display keeps working without an account.

The first account

The first time metrd starts, every page goes to Set up metrd. Enter your name, email and a password to create the first account. You're signed in straight away.

Passwords need at least 12 characters, with upper and lower case letters, a number and a symbol.

Invite someone

Go to Users > Invites and choose Invite someone. metrd doesn't send email yet, so it gives you a link to send yourself. The link works once, lasts seven days and is only shown when you create it.

To send a fresh link, choose New link on the invite. The old link stops working. Expired invites stay in the list until you delete them.

When they open the link, they choose their name and password and are signed in.

Manage users

Users lists everyone. You can rename anyone, and delete anyone except yourself. Deleting someone signs them out everywhere and removes the invites they sent.

Users > Sessions shows every device that's signed in, with the browser, system and when it was last used. Sign a device out from its row.

Your account

Open Your account from the menu on your name, or under Settings. From there you can:

  • change your name
  • change your password, which signs out your other devices
  • see where you're signed in, and sign out any device except the one you're using

Email checks

metrd checks that an email's domain can receive mail before it creates an account or invite. If the server has no internet access, turn the check off with EMAIL_VERIFY_DELIVERABILITY=false. See Docker.

Forgotten passwords

There's no reset by email yet. If someone forgets their password, another user can delete their account and invite them again.
